Do you ever stop to think how incredible your body really is? Do you think about what it does for you, how it allows you to do everything in your life. Lets look at some examples, imagine if we didn’t have any legs, or if we had no fingers to pick things up. Imagine if we had no lungs to breathe or stomach to take in food. Imagine if we had no energy to run around and do the things we do. Our bodies are incredible machines that allow us to live our lives. Everything within our bodies support us, takes care of us, and allows us to feel, think and act the way we do.
Our bodies do so much for us, but rarely do we stop to think about it. Our bodies are designed to work incredibly well, they are designed to be fit, healthy and energised. But when we don’t look after them, they can become weak, unwell and unhealthy. Try to think of all the things your body does for you, make a list of everything you body allows you to do. Do you play sport? Socialise with friends? Walk? Sing? Talk? Your body supports you to do all of this, so what are you doing to support your body back?
Taking care of our bodies is equally as important as taking care of our hearts. If we want a happy life, if we want a successful life, we must first start by taking care of ourselves.
It is wonderful for us to have dreams and goals and to be determined to achieve great things with our lives, but if we don’t first start with looking after the one thing that is going to help us achieve it all- our body, then it will be very difficult for us to build the lives we dream of.
You are probably waiting for me to start telling you what you should or shouldn’t eat, how much exercise you should do and how much water you should drink… The good news for you is I’m not (because you already know this). Taking care of our bodies involves so much more than what we eat, drink and the energy we burn. Taking care of our bodies is about understanding it more, learning how it works, how it gives us messages and tells us whats wrong. Taking care of our bodies is about truly loving it and wanting to give it the best. It is about respect, honor and connection.
